Hazel M. Fleming

Hazel M. Lane Fleming, 83, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:30 P.M., Sunday, April 11, 2004 at her residence.
Hazel worked at Forrest City Dress Factory in Du Quoin and Church's Variety Store in Elkville and as a self-employed beautician for twenty years.  She attended Faith Assembly of God Church in Du Quoin and Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin.  She was a Marshall Browning Hospital volunteer.
She was born June 6, 1920 at DeSoto, IL, the daughter of Cornelius and Mollie (Blacklock) Vancil.
She married James E. "Lupe" Lane on February 13, 1939 at Jackson, Missouri and he preceded her in death on November 30, 1996.  She then married John H. Fleming on May 10, 1998 at Du Quoin and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, stepchildren - John W. Fleming and wife Rhonda of Du Quoin and Steve Fleming and wife Stacy of Colorado, seven grandchildren - Heather Swallers and husband Joey, Amber Fleming, Sarah Hendrix and husband Brandon, Steven D. Fleming, Brittany Fleming, Brenna Fleming, Bregan Fleming, two great grandchildren - Katlyn Swallers and Chaz Hunter Hendrix, two sister-in-laws - Katie Vancil of Dowell and Wilma Chilton of Carmi, IL, nieces and nephews - Wid and Joann Hart of Abilene, TX, John and Clotene Woosley of Du Quoin, Ina and Raymond Halstead of Memphis, TN, Donna and Wayne Poole of Herrin, IL, Laura James of Marion, IL, Virginia and Roger Stewart of Dowell, James and Linda Vancil of Du Quoin and Anita and Charles Kreid of Dowell, and many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one husband - James E. "Lupe" Lane, two brothers - David Vancil and Scott Vancil and two sisters - Nora Hart and Inez Woosley.
Funeral services were at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday at the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Dennis Fitzsimmons and Rev. Keith Filer officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from noon until the time of service at the church on Wednesday.
Interment was in the Elkville Cemetery at Elkville.
